swissnex San Francisco offers a large, diverse co-working environment to Swiss institutions and companies. Since April 2017, the GGBa contributes to the dynamism of this blooming ecosystem.

After the official inauguration of the GGBa presence at swissnex Boston, it was the turn of San Francisco. On July 21, the GGBa and swissnex San Francisco hosted a kickoff lunch to celebrate their new collaboration in the presence of friends and partners. “swissnex plays an active role in connecting Switzerland with the world, and at the GGBa, we work to attract the world’s best companies to Switzerland. I am sure our partnership will be mutually beneficial and inspiring”, said Thomas Bohn, Executive Director of the GGBa, speaking at the inaugural event. The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the world’s most high-tech regions. It is the cradle of countless innovative start-ups, and home to tech giants such as Autodesk, Cisco, eBay, and Salesforce, all of which have chosen to set up camp in Western Switzerland.

Run by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) in cooperation with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, swissnex is a global network of science and technology outposts aimed at connecting Switzerland with the world’s innovation hubs.

Switzerland as an ideal place to own and manage intellectual property

A highlight of the event was the presentation given by intellectual property expert Christophe Saam. A Swiss and European patent attorney, he is the founder and CEO of P&TS, one of the fastest growing patent law firms worldwide, whose main offices are in Switzerland. In his capacity, he advises a number of large high-tech companies and start-ups, both Swiss and international, on IP matters.
