A new 4,000 m2 building was inaugurated on Tuesday in Monthey. It will accommodate companies specializing in the life sciences.

Created in 2004, the BioArk is a technology site specifically designed for start-ups and companies working in biotechnology and regenerative medicine. It is strategically located in Monthey, in the canton of Valais, where several multinationals involved in fine chemistry and biotechnology have been present for many years.

The five-story extension includes offices and state-of-the-art labs, allowing the facility to grow from 2,500 to 6,500 m2. One floor is entirely dedicated to the intercantonal school for lab technicians (EIL) specializing in chemistry, with ultramodern laboratories and spacious classrooms, according to a BioArk press release.

Around 80 people employed by 17 companies currently work on the BioArk site. These figures are expected to grow to 150 and 25 respectively thanks to the new extension.
