Neuchâtel among “Best Small Universities”

The University of Neuchâtel came eleventh in the ranking of the world’s best universities with fewer than 5,000 students published by Times Higher Education.

When talking about universities, size matters. Times Higher Education has just released the World’s Best Small Universities 2016-17 ranking, in which the University of Neuchâtel ranks eleventh. According to Phil Baty, Times Higher Education rankings editor, small universities “can potentially offer students a more intimate environment, with more support and attention from lecturers, and more of a chance for students to spend time with the star professors, who in bigger universities may simply be too busy.”

The University of Neuchâtel is an attractive and competitive higher education institution both nationally and internationally. Thanks to its relatively small size, its 4,358 students develop close-knit relationships with their teachers, which enables teaching styles and course content suited to their personal needs. Current student Alex Lussignoli says: “The small size of classes allows us to better interact with professors, since there’s always the possibility to ask questions during class, or obtain additional information afterwards. Moreover, both academic and administrative staff are helpful and easily available via email.”
