The new factory in the canton of Fribourg will allow Nespresso to accelerate its international development while drawing on Swiss excellence.

Located in Romont, in the canton of Fribourg, Nestlé Nespresso’s third and newest production center was inaugurated on 10 September 2015. In addition to producing classic Nespresso capsules, it will serve as the primary production site for the new VertuoLine capsules, specifically designed to cater to North American preferences for large-cup coffees.

The investment reflects Nespresso’s ongoing commitment to Switzerland, and “confirms that Fribourg is an attractive economic location for international industrial companies”, as highlighted by Beat Vonlanthen, State Councilor and Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment at the canton of Fribourg.

A Swiss company with global reach, Nespresso chose Romont due to the Swiss excellence and know-how, the solid and reliable infrastructure and a skilled workforce: “Switzerland has created a political framework that encourages economic development, with clear institutional structures and processes. The strong infrastructure, central location and the skills and quality of the workforce in Romont, in the canton of Fribourg, and the surrounding region will play a significant role in delivering on the success of this investment”, explained Daniel Lagger, Operations Director of Nestlé Nespresso.

Nespresso has invested CHF 300 million in the production plant, which has already created 125 skilled, direct jobs, bringing the total number of Nespresso employees in Switzerland to 2,300.
