Based in Martigny, in the canton of Valais, Idiap conducts basic research and development in the field of multimedia information management. This success shows the excellence of Idiap\u2019s R&amp;D activities in its key areas of expertise.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The three projects will be completed over three years as of January 2016 and create 11 new jobs. The first one, SUMMA (Scalable Understanding of Multilingual Media), aims to significantly improve media monitoring by creating a platform to automate the analysis of media streams across many languages. The second project, MuMMER (MultiModal Mall Entertainment Robot), focuses on developing a humanoid robot able to engage and interact autonomously in the dynamic environments of a public shopping mall.
