It has mandated the Swiss National Science Foundation (<link http:>SNSF<\/link>) to implement these programmes, which are expected to lead to significant progress in the health and data management fields. The duration of these programmes is five years and the total budget is 65 million Swiss francs. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cMedical care\u201d (20 million Swiss francs) aims to provide an overview of how medical care is organized and delivered in Switzerland. Its main focus is on improving resource management by minimizing excessive or insufficient care. Emphasis is placed on the prevention and treatment of multiple chronic conditions. This NRP is expected to improve the availability, accessibility, matching and comparability of medical data. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">\u201cAntimicrobial resistance\u201d (20 million Swiss francs) aims to help reduce antimicrobial resistance and its negative impact on the treatment of infectious diseases. Its main focus is on improving scientific understanding of potential resistance gene reservoirs and transmission mechanisms; on developing rapid diagnostic techniques; on discovering new antimicrobial therapeutic approaches; and on proposing response measures.
