{"id":12083,"date":"2015-06-12T11:33:00","date_gmt":"2015-06-12T09:33:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.ggba.swiss\/lausanne-at-the-cutting-edge-of-global-cancer-research\/"},"modified":"2023-07-04T13:39:31","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T11:39:31","slug":"lausanne-at-the-cutting-edge-of-global-cancer-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging.ggba.swiss\/en\/lausanne-at-the-cutting-edge-of-global-cancer-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Lausanne at the cutting-edge of global cancer research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><b>New York-based Ludwig Cancer Research announced yesterday that it is expanding its presence in Lausanne, thus further strengthening Vaud\u2019s international position in the field of life sciences.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><link http:>Ludwig Cancer Research<\/link> has chosen Lausanne as one of its main international sites and intends to invest more than CHF 100 million over the next ten years <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">on applied cancer immunology and the design of novel molecular and cell-based immunotherapies, <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">under a framework agreement with the Canton of Vaud covering a 30-year timescale.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cWe are very enthusiastic about opening a Ludwig Branch in Lausanne,\u201d said Edward Mc Dermott, CEO of Ludwig, in a <link http:>press release<\/link>. \u201cWe were greatly impressed by the scope and depth of scientific and IT expertise to be found there, not only in its academic institutions, but also in its biotech firms. I\u2019m convinced that our partnership will be of immense benefit to cancer patients everywhere.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Ludwig Lausanne will be based at the University of Lausanne (<link http:>UNIL<\/link>) and the Lausanne University Hospital (<link http:>CHUV<\/link>), and will&nbsp;operate in close collaboration with the new Swiss Cancer Center Lausanne (<link http:>SCCL<\/link>).
