CTI to become Innosuisse
19 January 2017
From 1 January 2018, Innosuisse will take over the functions of the Commission for Technology and Innovation, the Swiss federal agency responsible for the promotion of science-based innovation.
Currently, the Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI) has the status of a federal commission with decision-making powers, affiliated to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research (EAER). On 17 June 2016, the Swiss Parliament approved the so-called Innosuisse Act, which provides the legal basis to transform it into a public-law entity.
The new agency will begin operations on 1 January 2018 under the name of Innosuisse. It will be more flexible and better equipped to support innovation in the interests of the Swiss economy.
