Canton of Fribourg’s Innovation Award: cast your vote!
25 October 2016
Awarded every two years since 1991, the Canton of Fribourg’s Innovation Award aims at rewarding and encouraging entrepreneurial innovation and boldness.
Three companies and three start-ups will be vying for the Canton of Fribourg’s Innovation Award. The six finalists were selected on the basis of different criteria, such as the degree of technological and market innovation, the market potential and their impact on society, the local economy and the environment. While the winner of the Company Award is determined by the jury, the winner of the Start-up Award is chosen by the general public. People can vote by SMS for one of the nominated start-ups. Winners will be announced at the award ceremony on 9 November 2016.
The three finalists of the Company Award are Frewitt fabrique de machine, which has developed a modular milling system for R&D labs; Phonak Communications, which has developed a wireless ear receiver for audiovisual production and live events; and Samvaz, with its insulated rectangular wood block.
As far as start-ups are concerned, people can vote for PMFch, Setza or ViDi Systems. PMFch has developed a modular assembly system to create objects from a tubular structure; Setza has developed a booking tool to use shared spaces more efficiently; ViDi Systems has created an artificial intelligence software allowing computers to understand what they see.
